Support Groups

Alzheimer’s/Dementia Support Group:
Open to family and friends interested in learning how to care for a person with memory loss.  Informal meetings encourage caregivers to discuss concerns, obtain information, support one another, problem solve, and find comfort in others with similar experiences. Caring for Others Support Group:
Open to those providing physical or emotional care, transportation, meals, personal care or companionship for someone else and may need support.  The group meets on the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 6:00 PM at Center for Rehabilitation, McLaren Bay Region-West Campus, 3190 E. Midland Rd., Bay City. Call ahead to be sure they are meeting due to attendance. For more information call (989) 667-6636.

Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance- Great Lakes Bay Region:
Open to people living with or supporting someone living with depression or bipolar disorder.  Peer ran support group that is able to provide hope, help and support through peer-based, recovery oriented, empowering services and resources.  Meet every Tuesday from 6:30 PM – 7:45 PM at the McLaren Bay Region Cafeteria Meeting Room.  For more information, please contact Karla at (989) 992-9159.

Non-denominational support group that features biblical teachings to help those recovering from divorce and separation.  Features video seminars with 33 renowned experts on divorce and recovery topics.  DivorceCare meets Wednesday evenings from 7:00 P.M – 8:30 P.M at In His Presence Ministries at 4521 Monitor Rd. Jacob’s Ladder:
Offers support and tools to help parents and families who have lost a child through their journey of loss and grieving.  Jacob’s Ladder also offers hope to those dealing with the loss of a child and a special place to heal.  Jacobs’s Ladder meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 P.M. at In His Presence Church.  For more information, please contact Debi Hoffard at (989) 239-8963 or the church at (989) 686-5704.

Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG):
Offers support to cope with an adverse society, education to enlighten an ill-informed public, advocacy to end discrimination and to secure equal civil rights.  For information and questions call (989) 941-1458.

Peer 360 Recovery:
Peer 360 Recovery Alliance exists to serve the diverse recovery communities, their families, friends and allies offering a unified voice and shared recovery vision. Peer 360 is building bridges across the gaps between professional treatment services and successful lives in long-term recovery so that no more are lost to addiction. These groups are an informal gathering of others in recovery with a chance to share your experience and strength in recovery with others. They are also a chance to talk about your struggles and get support as needed.

Peer 360 Recovery Alliance Meetings

Recovery Inc.
A support group for people experiencing depression, anxiety, fear, panic, and other nervous symptoms.  Learn ways to manage and cope with troubling emotions, receive support, understanding, hope and reassurance and learn techniques for wellness. Group meets Thursdays at 4:30. Call 791-4959 for more information.

Survivors of Suicide Support Group
Serves the tri-city area.  Offers group support and understanding to those who have lost a loved one to suicide. Meets twice per month at Saginaw Child and Family Services.  No charge to attend.  Call Barb Smith at (989)781-5260 for more information.

This Isn’t What I Expected: Depression After Delivery Support Group
A support group for women experiencing postpartum depression and other difficult emotions after birth. Trained nurses offer support, guidance, information and access to community resources. Spouses and/or other caregivers are welcome to attend. Community Support Classes

Getting Ahead Workshop
A 13 week workshop offered by the YWCA to women struggling financially.  This program is a combination of self-examination and economic education to assist you in making your economic goal a reality.  For more information please call the YWCA at (989) 894-9055.
